3.1.10. MediaX IAX2 softphone

The phone could be downloaded freely from http://www.marccharbonneau.com/ but you need to have an installed Asterisk server and registered extensions and users as we did.

For information how to make the configurations in the Asterisk's configuration files please read our tutorial about the Configuring IP Phones for use with Asterisk

To register a user click Params and adjust the settings you want to change.

Here I register the user ivan_iax who is registered in iax.conf and in extensions.conf we made extension 1111 that dials this user. Then we go to the Server options. Here we write down the IP address of the asterisk server (in our case this is 10.3.3.25 but you have to put the IP address of your asterisk server). The next field we fill with the username ivan_iax as the one setted in iax.conf. The password should be the same as the secret in Iax.conf for this user.

The next options are the Audio ones. On the picture shown below are the default audio settings. You can select VIA or USB device if you know exactly what sound card you are using but windows cannot recognize this.

Lets make a test call to a idefisk 2.0 user. Now we are calling number 1234 and this is user ivan.

That is what the CLI shows. User ivan_iax calls user ivan.
